The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) said Monday in a news release that nine health insurance companies filed the required information to sell coverage in the Health Insurance Marketplace for Michigan residents.
Michigan’s Marketplace is federally-facilitated but DIFS is responsible for reviewing plans and rates to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. The nine Qualified Health Plans that filed for the Michigan Health Insurance Marketplace are:
- Blue Care Network of Michigan
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
- Health Alliance Plan
- McLaren Health Plan
- Meridian Health Plan of Michigan, Inc.
- Molina Healthcare of Michigan
- Priority Health
- Total Health Care USA
DIFS will release the proposed health insurance rate changes for individual and small group policies on August 1, 2017.
Open enrollment begins on November 1, 2017. Certain circumstances could make consumers eligible for a Special Enrollment Period to get coverage now. Visit our Find Local Help page to find contact information for an assister near you.
